We wrapped up Unite this evening after our presentation on Unity + the Rift. For those of you that were in the audience, thank you again for attending our talk (and sorry for the technical delays)!
Reddit AMAA – Aug 28th, 10am PST
I’ll be doing an AMAA (Ask Me Almost Anything) on Reddit on the 28th starting at 10am PST, just for fun. I’ll be answering questions about Oculus VR™, the Rift, and virtual reality technology. If you’re unfamiliar with Reddit AMAs, you can read a short introduction here:
If you’ve been dying to ask me something (or maybe you’ve asked, but I haven’t had a chance to respond [Sorry!]), this might just be your opportunity. We’re looking forward to answering your questions live!
Gift an Indie Rift Contest!
We’re excited to announce a small contest that will coincide with the end of the Kickstarter. The community will have the chance to pick two indie developers to receive an early, FREE Rift developer kit! (plus a t-shirt and poster, all signed by the team, $500+ value).
If you’re an indie studio and you’d like to be considered for the contest, please send an email to email@example.com before Aug. 27th at 11:59pm PST with the following information:
1. Name of your studio
2. Studio’s website
3. Any prior work
4. What you’d like to do with a Rift developer kit and why your project is special
Note: Indie studios *must* submit themselves to be considered for the vote. Sorry!
We’ll pick our favorite submissions with a bit of help from a few of our friends in the industry and we’ll launch the public voting Aug. 28th!
When will the winners receive the developer kit?
Probably around November, but it could be earlier.
What defines an indie studio? We’re not quite sure ourselves, but let’s say you shouldn’t have more than 10 full time employees or have a major publishing deal in place.
Does the winner have to actually deliver anything?
Nope! They just get one of the very first Rift dev kits to experiment with (although we’d certainly love to see their creations).
Please feel free to send any others you might have to firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
Oculus VR™ Lands in South Korea!
We’re opening Oculus VR™ Korea in Seoul to help game developers in South Korea bring their ideas to life inside the Rift. We just held a small press event to kick things off and announce our new business manager of Korea, Dillon Seo. You can check out the official announcement here: Oculus VR™ to Bring Virtual Reality to South Korea.
Keep spreading the word. We’ll be in touch!
